A pelvic ultrasound is a non-invasive imaging test that uses high-frequency sound waves to create real-time images of the pelvic organs. It is commonly performed to examine the uterus, ovaries, fallopian tubes, cervix, bladder, and surrounding structures.
Types of Pelvic Ultrasound:
Transabdominal Ultrasound – A probe is placed on the abdomen, and a conductive gel is used to enhance sound wave transmission.
Transvaginal Ultrasound – A specialized probe is inserted into the vagina to provide a clearer and more detailed view of internal structures.
Common Uses:
Detecting fibroids, cysts, polyps, and tumors
Evaluating abnormal bleeding, pelvic pain, or Fertility Issues
Monitoring ovarian follicles in fertility treatments
Checking for ectopic pregnancy or miscarriage
Diagnosing urinary and reproductive system abnormalities
